HP Pavilion DV2120US Laptop Computer Review

The new HP Pavilion DV2120US laptop equipped with a 2.20 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo U7600 with 2MB L2 cache, 533 FSB and features Intel Mobile 945GML Express Chipset motherboard, 1 GB DDR2-SDRAM featuring 100 GB 5400 rpm SATA hard disk and Blu-ray Disc system. The HP Pavilion DV2120US laptop processors are Intel Core 2 Duo that is up to 40% faster and more energy efficient against all the old Pentium 4 systems.

The Blu-ray DVD player provides 6 times the storage capacity of a regular DVD holding up to 25 gigs of content per layer, while 50 gigs of files can be stored in the dual-layer. This DV2120US delivers excellent performance and value for anyone looking for a laptop computer on a budget. Over the past several years we have documented tried and true performance from the entire family of HP laptop or desktop computers specifically the Pavilion DV2120US. Preloaded with Microsoft Windows Vista Business Edition, and featuring a laptop chassis made from magnesium alloy the DV2120US is ready to perform in your home or office.

In fact recently we took our HP notebook on the road and tested the WIFI connectivity, hard drive speed, and case durability with impressive results. The durability of this notebook was impressive and seemed undeterred even after a clumsy bump that sent our test model careening off our table. Wireless internet was a single button away and provided excellent download speed considering it was a shared network at one of our favorite coffee shops. The 7200 rpm hard drive made for fast browsing but we noticed some slight noise emanating from the case. Over all the HP Pavilion DV2120US is highly recommended.

ASUS Netbook Review

The ASUS Netbook is the top selling netbook on the market right now. In this article, we are going to explore what makes this netbook so popular and the main reason that you should buy it instead of the others on the market.

You have probably heard of netbooks by now, but if not, let’s take a look at the differences between the traditional laptop and a netbook.

Technology advances continue to allow us to have great things in small packages. Where we once had to have a computer on the desk, we were then allowed to take it with us in the form of a laptop at about the same level of horsepower. Netbooks continue this trend of portability that laptops brought us but they offer even more portable, often referred to as “ultra-portability”. Netbooks are designed to be ultra-light so that you can take them with you virtually anywhere, just as you would with your iPod.

Then, we may ask (as we did when laptops entered the market), what are we sacrificing? What does a laptop have that a netbook does not?

This question is most easily answered by looking at the main components of each. Every computer is equipped with a few essential items that are important for speed, capacity, and the overall user experience. With technology advances, manufactures have been able to equip laptops and netbooks with essentially the same insides. Let’s take a look at these essential ingredients.

The ASUS Netbook comes with 1GB of memory and is expandable to 2GB if you would like. For any activity other than intense gaming, these specifications are easily sufficient.

The ASUS Netbook boasts a 160GB Hard Drive which is more than enough for any on-the-go data and all of your music. As a benchmark, 160GB could hold more than 35,000 songs. If you need to extend this amount (which would only be true if you store massive amounts of songs and movies), you can get an external hard drive for less than $100.

There are two primary differences between a laptop and netbook in regards to the user-experience. Each of these factors make netbooks “ultra-portable”. One, netbooks have slightly smaller screens. To offset this, when you are in one place, you can simply hook up your ASUS Netbook to your LCD TV. And, two, netbooks have slightly smaller keyboards. This does not take long to get used to for most people because the keyboard is relatively scaled to a natural keyboard.

While the ASUS Netbook meets and exceeds all of your needs for basic computing power, it excels and beats all of the other netbooks in one key category: battery life. Equipped with an Intel processor designed for speed, portability, and video, the ASUS blows away the competition in battery life. The ASUS exceeds 10 hours of battery life with the competitors trailing at half that time. This alone makes the ASUS Netbook worth it!

In summary, the ASUS Netbook is equipped with all of your essential computing needs. It is the absolutely the best netbook on the market because of the more than 10 hours of battery life. And, to top it all off, it is less expensive than most of the other netbooks on the market.

Is a Mini Laptop Worth the Price Tag?

First there was the laptop; a mini version of the home PC. Now comes the mini laptop; a mini version of the mini home PC. If you aren’t already operating your life from your cell phone or blackberry chances are you’ve been tempted by one of these super portable computers. The question is will the purchase actually be worth the money you put out?

The benefits of owning a mini version of the laptop center on its size. It will be a lot lighter to carry around, will fit more compactly into a bag or case, and is more discreet so everyone doesn’t have to necessarily know what you have with you.

Also, if you regularly log onto the internet during a commute or at random points along your day it can be easier to hold and work with wherever you happen to be sitting or standing.

Yet, whether your purchase is worth the price tag will depend largely on what your intended use for the laptop is and which one you select. There are some things to keep in mind when determining this for your own situation.

First of all, how often do you plan to use it for actual typing? Some of the minis currently on the market have a pretty decent keyboard that will be comfortable for most people, especially if you are used to texting on a much smaller device. However, others have keyboard designs that are less than ideal for tapping out longer messages or texts.

Second, will you be using it primarily for internet access and emailing? Many people use their laptop mostly for internet browsing or at least use it for this purpose on a regular basis. If this is you, then choosing a mini is just like picking out a regular laptop. Some will move faster than others depending on the processor and other features so choose wisely or you will spend way too much time waiting for pages to load.

Also, consider where you will most likely be using the internet. If your mini doesn’t have Bluetooth capability you will only be able to log on at wifi points or at home with your own wifi network. If you want to ensure you can connect anytime and anywhere make sure your mini has Bluetooth compatibility.

If you pay close attention to the style of the mini, how fast it can process, and how much connectivity it will allow you may find it to be a great purchase. It isn’t necessarily worth paying an outrageous price for if you already have a laptop that you really like, but if you are in the market for something new and like the idea of having a more compact product than this may be the way to go.

If you have not used a mini laptop in the past, make sure to play with a few different display models in a store before making a purchase. This will give you a good idea of how comfortable the different features are to use and ensure that you will be happy with the purchase.
